"toto...i have a feeling we're not in kansas anymore"

cousin's birthday cake. attempting to do conversations because...

this is what i was working with. i've never made a cake using a scale. i will never make a cake with a scale again. actually...i gave up and went into town to get these instead.

and all was right with the world again. measuring cups and teaspoons saved my sanity that afternoon. thank you little general store in the town of leek, you will never understand how helpful you were.

then it was off to manchester, bright and early saturday morning. i attended a day workshop on the legislature governing child welfare. it was, interesting to say the least, right dini? the training took place at the town hall. here, preparations are being made for the chinese new year festival out front.

it was an architecture wonder, inside and out. on a break, i snuck out to snap photos of the great staircase and hallway windows.

i know, right?

after a mentally exhausting day, filled with moments of, "are you freaking kidding me?" and "wow", i left the city behind to join up with my cousins for a birthday celebration at their local curry house and a lager. the perfect way to end a day.

with the weekend over, having needed the sunday to recharge, i'm off tomorrow to the southern part of england for another couple of days!
