"i don't want to be disillisioned, i can't even spell it"

welcome to show and tell time. presenting: salisbury cathedral and stonehenge.
with your host, hayles. i need more bronzer.

for the record, i'm really digging these things called, cloisters. they're usually open air hallways with stone platforms all around with pillars, overlooking a garden. i would love to curl up with a book, or arrange a wrought iron bed frame with the fluffiest feather down duvet you've ever seen, along with knitted blankets and a puffy pillow...and take a nap. dreamy!

inside the cathedral. i think there must have been a concert booked for that night because an orchestra, male opera singer and choir were all practicing while i was wandering around.
hey there handsome, what's your name? actually, his name was written in latin. and that didn't really help me out that much.
the amnesty candle in the trinity chapel.
some really old trunks and really old looking locks.
i've found the knitter a new project to keep her busy. choir/pew cushions.
some really old flags that look like they're about to crumble.
coffee break at a super cute cafe called, the wooden spoon.
i do what the sat nav tells me to do. always. but, i might question its motives if it tells me to drive into a lake. (thanks michael and dwight from the office. great episode with a sound warning).
where the beautiful, yet heartbreaking last scene of this version of tess of the d'urbervilles was shot. "angel, i knew this happiness could not have lasted". and then tess gets up from her husbands arms and walks into the sunrise, accompanied by the police as she is later hanged for murdering the man she was living with (not her long-lost gorgeous husband) who had manipulated and controlled her into a lie of a relationship that was so twisted. oh, i'm sad now. go, read the book - my favourite thomas hardy book.

audio tour mobile-handheld-device-thingie.
"sheepies! hello sheepies, hello, hello, hello" (don't worry, i was able to contain myself in amongst the crowd). i also saw two bunnies too!
oh yeah, and don't forget the rope fence.

now, i'm just messin' with ya. playing around with ol' nikon.
this concludes your show and tell time with hayles. hope you've enjoyed the story. i'll take questions and comments now. who would like to go first?

i am a woman, on a mission. oooh.

well...due to the blasted tmobile child lock i haven't been able to update this ol' thing. back to stealin' the neighbour's signal now that i'm in stoke for the weekend. shh. don't tell.

made the trek to stoke last night. it only took 4 hours. i started out my journey on the rural roads from bournemouth and ended up in salisbury. and, before i knew it....stonehenge. i know! i couldn't believe my eyes. i drove right past it. there it was....in the middle of some field with a rope around it. i didn't stop...i kept going (i was on a mission to get home, you know). maybe some other time. but, wow. stonehenge. that's not something you see everyday now is it?

in other news, i went to the town of leek for provisions today. underwear, a toilet seat (it was on its last legs from the previous tenant i gather...too much information? okay, i'll stop now), a beach blanket, antique picture frames from the oxfam charity shop, and groceries. tomorrow's mission is to find a pair of jeans that actually fit. i've lost seven pounds in the last three weeks and even more since i arrived in this country. its been a combination of stress and the low carb lifestyle. more stress...than the low carbs tho. hey, i'm not complaining.

skyped with the 'rents last night. that was pretty cool. apparently it was 24 degree celsius yesterday in cambridge they tell me.  i watched alan carr - chatty man last night. he had mariah carey on. watched her scream with control into the microphone. pure sap it was. yuck.

anywho, i think that's all for now. looking forward to a few games of scrabble this evening with nana, and a few glasses of hardy's shiraz. oh, it's good to be home!!!!!

sunday afternoon.

blogspot is difficult sometimes, so i'm writing my write up at the end of this post. i can't believe i'm sitting in my car outside starbucks. all to use the internet. watch me get mugged or something. so, here are pictures from my sunday afternoon. it was a gorgeous day out and i grabbed the camera and walked the beach, the pier and sat and wrote some cards on a bench along the pier. the first photo is of the street. this is the street i live on. i'm amazed everytime i get a parking spot because it's always such a crap shoot. and...i'm still amazed i manage to park my car because i can't believe the smallest of places i can fit into! it baffles me everytime! this toyota is amazing.

thinking about visiting corfe castle this saturday. last weekend the national trust had a free admission weekend where you could visit these historical sights for free. but, i don't like doing things the easy way and saturday was awful due to the rain.

re-discovered the library. been listening to florence and the machine. saw an education, che - part two, and the lovely young victoria. oh.my.gosh. what a beautiful film about queen victoria and how she came to be queen and married prince albert. you will love it.

hmmm. what else is new? work is still nuts. but, it's stupid nuts. the kind of nuts that let's do everything the difficult way nuts and create more work for ourselves kind of nuts. i think my expectations might be too high. had my first experience with a women's refuge (women's shelter) and was appalled by the "support" they offer to women. lets just say the system doesn't make it easy for women to leave abusive relationships. i'm having a hard time between (a)this is just a job, hayley...just do your job and (b)trying to be an agent of change. don't even get me started on the paperwork. my past workmate warned me about this...she was speaking from experience.

driving is getting better tho. not so many turnarounds are happening. i guess that's a good thing. that's all for now peeps.
