i've arrived.

so...here i am. in the land of tea and scones and i'm very happy. here's what i've been up over the past 4 days in case you're interested. (which i think you might be).

(stairs landing from nana's house). just when i thought i'd left the canadian winter weather behind....it snows. lovely.

day one: lost a whole night's sleep. the plane was far too entertaining in first class. movies and tv shows on demand. attempted sudoku as i'm just getting the hang of it...but i guess not really because "easy" was too difficult for me. passed the time watching the damned united, 500 days of summer and part of bright star. best film out of the three? the damned united! (if you love english footie, you'll love this film on real-life manager, brian clough). i now have a full-on crush on michael sheen, his suits and accent in this particular role. hold. me. back. touched down early at manchester, waited for my uncle and nana to pick me up. once home...straight to bed and slept 5 hours. cousin laura came round in the evening and later, a broken night's sleep care of jet-lag. happy happy, joy joy.

day two: off to the town of leek for provisions - deodorant, hairbrush and nail polish. inquired about opening a bank account. picked up another travel adapter for the lappytop and topped up the mobile. i. bought. real. coffee. nana won both games of scrabble. quelle surprise.

day three: starting the tedious process of applying for things. on the phone, filling out forms. yeaaah. i'm an immigrant here...and i need to prove my identity and my residency. which is a little bit difficult when you're living with family and there's nothing in your name. lets see how this goes...shall we?

day four: off to the city centre. took the bus in with my nana. got a library card and printed off train tickets to manchester. scored some interview outfit items on sale via debenhams. back at home, nana suggests i go drive around the neighbourhood. i don't even last 2 seconds without driving on the wrong side. the sentinel posts my online comment responding to an article covering a domestic violence campaign run by the local university students. i realise today i can feel i'm losing control of my canadian accent. my pronunciations are softening and are slipping to the dark side.

stayed tuned my friends!!!

I'll be watching your blog to hear of your tales. So excited. Stay strong with the Canadian accent. Stand out, girl!

Love and big hugs,
Christa
