louder than sirens, louder than bells.

i like driving. i like getting in my car and just driving. don't worry, it's not as romantic as it sounds because i usually need a post code to punch into my gps before half pint can even think about leaving the driveway. (when you personify things, you can start blaming them because you think they're a) human and b) your friend) i should really invest in a map. you have no idea how reliable i am on that thing. you try driving standard, on the opposite side of the road, navigating glorified buggy trails while competing with fifty million other englishers for a place-at-the-watering-hole.

tangent.

so, my family told me about a small village that's close to the roaches (peak district) the other day and i really wanted to check it out. why? because this village claims to be the highest village in all of england. the village is called, flash. it's over one thousand, five hundred feet above sea level. which...i guess sounds high, but, what do i know? i need a reference point. ah, the cn tower in toronto is apparently over one thousand, eight hundred feet. i get it now.

so, flash is fairly high.

there's not much to do in flash. there's a pub, but i wasn't feeling it. so, i skipped it. i wandered the church graveyard for a bit and took advantage of the misty, foggy atmosphere. churches and castles. i am always game.
