and this is what i woke up to.
dreamy.
there's got to be five of my grandad's handmade clocks in this bedroom and i can hear them ticking away. nana's turned the chimes off so i won't be woken up every fifteen minutes. this was the best morning i've had in awhile. i took my car down to the garage for them to check the brakes. turns out there's nothing wrong, he cleaned the pads and re-adjusted the rear brakes and did a test as well. all negative. fifty pounds later = peace of mind. i'll take it!
had breakfast in the garden with nana afterwards. we drank coffee in the sunshine. i did some washing and hung them out on the line. i literally cannot wait to get into these bad boys. and there's nothing like freshly washed pjs that have been blowing in the spring breeze all day.
nana and i ventured out in the vw polo to the town of leek to the open-air market. it was st. george's day yesterday. rumour has it he killed a dragon? yeah, ok. there was some cheesy re-enactment in the town square. i think the guy standing is suppose to be the dragon? but, that doesn't make sense.
antiques. cobblestone streets. i'm officially in love. and it's with the little town of leek.
then i was off to cousin laura's. she used me for my muscles as she's moving house soon. later, we picked nana up and went to a carvery for dinner (traditional english dinner in a pub). we also went to the crematory to see if grandad's name was in 'the book' yet, and it wasn't. i haven't been to the crematory since grandad's funeral, and i'm not sure how i feel about that.
i finished off the day, skyping with my parents and then i got to meet a handsome little man, by the name of brady. my friend, becky and her babe came over to my parent's house and we chatted/video conferenced for over two hours. my parents wandering in and out, taking baby brady so becky and i could talk. my mom says dad was chatting away to brady in the kitchen as he was making supper. sigh. i've never wanted to be home so badly in all my life. a baby...in my house, and i didn't get to hold and snuggle him. i've decided that video conferencing is mean. you get to see and talk to people live, but then you very quickly realise its limitations. nothing can replace being home.
all in due time, all in due time. but, it was the best day ever.
