i don't need a man...i need a dog.

i had a date last night. it was with denver.

denver the dog. i lead a very exciting life.

he belongs to my good friends from church. they're a lovely, busy, young family and expecting another little one on the way soon.

i love dogs. i do. i always wanted a dog growing up. instead...i got a rabbit. a rabbit with an attitude problem. she grunted.

so, i asked my friends if i could, you know...like, take denver for a walk one day?

i thought it sounded like a silly request.

they said yes! we'd love you to take denver for a walk, he would love it too!

game on.

we went walking the south downs and saw the town from the top of a hill. the sun was low in the sky. it was beautiful.

we avoided the field with sheep. although, i don't think denver would've bothered them anyways. he's not like that. he's a mature dog...secure in himself. aha.

denver is the easiest dog to go for a walk with. you can't lose him. even if you tried...he's there. he listens well to commands and with each gate we passed through, he's waiting on the other side for me to pass through. such a gentlemen, i told him.

after climbing a really steep hill, following a slew of footpaths (in which we hoped for the best that we wouldn't get lost) and three rounds of fetch...we called it a night. it was a good hour and a half.

his owner warned me that denver could play fetch until he's blue in the face. i had to pace him or he was going to die of panting overload.

he's a very fit dog and he's lovely.

so now you've been properly introduced. you'll probably see more of him. and yes, i'm weird.

me too, sarah. there's something about their unconditional love, loyalty and they just want to be around you all the time. very healing. very therapeutic...indeed!
