in other news.

1) navigating is still a nightmare. might have to succumb to having a tomtom tell me where to go. although i'd love to tell the english streets where to go. or, maybe the english streets could just do their job and make sure their roads are properly labelled so i can get to where i need to go. i'm not sayin, i'm just sayin,

2) i forget i'm in england when i visit homesense, ikea and tk maxx (winners doppelganger). so, when i need to escape, i wander these stores and i'm happy.

3) nana beat me in scrabble again. but, that's not really news.

4) i'm moving into a studio flat that is as cute as a button. it's all white and has loads of natural light. it has carpet in the kitchen and bathroom andgagmewithawoodenspoon. i will never understand the rationale behind having your bathroom or kitchen lined with carpet. i'm considering steam cleaning.

5) i'm on a mobile plan that's not a contract and i get two hours a month of free time to call canada. that's kinda exciting. thank you tmobile and thank you cousin laura!

6) the cute englishmen can be found driving beat up volkswagen golfs and toyota land cruisers. its a fact. i want one. a cute englishman that is.

7) the temperature in b-town hits ten+ degrees celsius daily.

8) english drivers are friendly and courteous. they wave you into traffic and communicate with a wave of the hand or a flash of the high-beams. i like it.

9) the bbc has the most interesting programming. this one follows celebrities who try to navigate/survive the social welare system. its full of profound, sobering moments and i think it has a lot to offer and help us to understand how systems in our society oppresses others.

10) i think that's about it....for now!

I'm loving your blog, hayley! Keep 'em coming :) Can't wait to see your flat. And YES... What IS up with all the carpeting in rooms that should be sterile... hygenic. Makes no sense whatsoever.

Did you meet the English surfers?

They looked cute... um... from far away at least ;o)

I miss the beach!!!!!!!!!! though I'm right at the water, the beach is not like yours. sniff.

Canadian hugs coming your way!

ha! That BBC programme sounds a bit like The Simple Life (Paris, Nicole....) but probably more educational and redeeming?

I'd say steam cleaning sounds like a very good idea. Who knows what's on that carpet!
